Jewelry acquires a patina over time, but a few simple steps can help preserve its brilliance and ensure it lasts for years to come. Here are our tips for caring for your jewelry, depending on its material.

Care
Good habits
A few principles apply to all jewelry, regardless of the material.
Put on jewelry last
Perfumes, creams, hairsprays, and cosmetics are jewelry's primary enemies. Put your jewelry on last, after you've finished getting ready and applying makeup, and take it off first in the evening.
Remove before water contact
Avoid wearing your jewelry in the shower, in the sea, at the pool, or in a bath. Water, salt, and especially chlorine accelerate wear, tarnish metals, and can alter certain stones.
Store protected
Store each piece separately, away from air and humidity — ideally in a pouch or its original box. Jewelry that rubs against each other will scratch, and humidity promotes oxidation.
Remove during physical activity
Remove your jewelry for sports, housework, gardening, or any manual labor. Impacts, perspiration, and household products can damage them.
Care
Silver
Silver tends to tarnish naturally when exposed to air and humidity: this is oxidation. This phenomenon is normal and can be easily corrected.
To restore silver's shine, gently rub the piece with a soft, special silver polishing cloth. Regular wearing of silver jewelry also slows down its tarnishing.
Avoid abrasive products and hard brushes, which can scratch the metal.
Care
Gold plated & vermeil
Gold plated and vermeil jewelry consists of a layer of gold deposited on a base metal or silver. This precious layer requires more precautions: it is the most delicate material to care for.
Keep these pieces away from water, perfume, cosmetics, and any repeated friction, which would wear away the gold layer over time.
For cleaning, simply use a soft, dry cloth. Never use cleaning products, abrasive cloths, or cleaning baths: they would remove the gold layer. Over time and with wear, gold plating can fade — this is characteristic of this material.
Care
Solid gold
Solid gold is the most durable metal: it does not oxidize and lasts through time. It requires little maintenance.
To restore its shine, clean it with a soft cloth. As with all jewelry, avoid prolonged contact with chlorinated water and chemicals, and store it away from friction to preserve its polish.
Care
Stones
Stones require special attention, as not all react in the same way. Handle your set jewelry by the metal rather than the stone, to avoid dislodging the setting over time.
Keep stones away from perfumes, cosmetics, and chemicals, and avoid impacts. For cleaning, a soft cloth is sufficient. If you have any doubts about a particular stone, do not hesitate to ask us for advice before any cleaning.
